I'm feeling good and healthy. I've been at 50mpw average for most of the last two months, and did a tempo run at 6:40 for 4 miles and wasn't breathing hard. But, we still have two feet of snow on the ground and are 8 hours from the nearist big city. There won't be any races until late Spring. So I must be patient.

Just wanted to drop by and say Hello Ron...have glanced at your blog before...did not know how to reply then.....great running you have been doing...what fall marathon are you planning? You said you are aiming for a 3:05....still think you may try to sub3 or do you want to see how the fall goes?

tww, thanks for writing. I know the winter months up here don't provide much new running material to keep it fresh...
If I can get up to 65-70 mpw (my past level was around 50mpw)and stay healthy, perhaps sub-three for the fall. But realistically, any big PR would be great. We're about the same age, and it's hard to train aggressively and stay 100%
healthy, as recovery seems a little slower than even 5 years ago. Last year, I hurt myself doing too much too soon.

The only advantage I really have is the fact that I started older, so I don't have a series of steller races done in my 30s to compete against. At 45, I PRd on the 5K and Marathon, so with more mileage there should be room for improvement.

As of now, I'm planning on the Niagra Falls Marathon, which is usually cool (late Oct.), and fairly flat.

I'm looking forward to seeing YOUR next marathon result.
